About Erica Nye, RCC, CCC
Therapy and career counselling for professionals in Vancouver and across BC.
I work with adults navigating burnout, work stress, anxiety, and career transitions,
with a focus on the internal patterns that shape how change unfolds.
Philosophy & Perspective
Your emotional life and your work life shape each other. Most adults don’t move between the two as separate identities. The same patterns, strengths, pressures, and expectations show up in both places. My work is grounded in understanding that connection.
I pay close attention to how stress patterns develop, how people function under prolonged pressure, and how identity, relationships, and work roles influence decisions. The focus is not on treating isolated concerns, but on understanding the systems that drive them so you can respond with greater steadiness and agency.
I work with a diverse range of clients and integrate a culturally responsive lens informed by both my training and lived experience.
Professional Lens
My background spans clinical counselling, career development, and workplace psychology. This integrative lens allows me to work with both the internal patterns that shape behaviour and the external demands of modern work.
Clients often value having one place to discuss anxiety, relationships, values, workplace pressures, and career decisions without having to separate them. My approach is structured, evidence-based, and aligned with the realities of high-responsibility roles.
How I Work With Clients
Clients describe my approach as direct, grounded, and practical. I focus on what is getting in the way, what is driving the pressure or uncertainty, and what needs to shift for things to feel more manageable.
We work on insight and capability in parallel. You understand why patterns exist, and you learn tools to respond differently. Over time, people notice clearer decision-making, more stable stress responses, and greater capacity in both their work and personal lives.
Background & Credentials
My work in the field began in education, where I supported students through academic transitions, learning differences, and early career decisions. Those foundational roles shaped the clinical and career-focused practice I run today.
Alongside my private practice, I teach in the Master of Counselling Psychology program at Adler University, where I focus on Lifestyle and Career Development. This academic role keeps my work grounded in current research and strengthens the integration of mental health, work, and behaviour change that clients often seek.
My approach is informed by evidence-based clinical training, ongoing professional development, and more than a decade of experience supporting people through periods of strain, transition, and reorientation. I maintain active registration as a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC), and I hold specialized certifications in career development, interview strategy, and employment coaching.
I continue to pursue advanced learning in workplace mental health, burnout recovery, behavioural science, and counselling for high-responsibility roles. I regularly update my practice through accredited training to ensure clients receive support that is relevant, effective, and aligned with current best practices. I also volunteer with Junior Achievement British Columbia, supporting students in career exploration as part of my ongoing community involvement.
