About Erica Nye, RCC, CCC
Therapy and career counselling for professionals in Vancouver and across BC.
I work with adults navigating burnout, work stress, career uncertainty, and difficult workplace situations —
addressing both the psychological and practical dimensions of what they are facing.
Philosophy & Perspective
Your emotional life and your work life shape each other. Most adults do not move between the two as separate identities. The same patterns, strengths, pressures, and expectations show up in both places. My work is grounded in understanding that connection.
I pay close attention to how stress patterns develop, how people function under prolonged pressure, and how identity, relationships, and work roles influence decision-making. The focus is not on treating isolated concerns, but on understanding the systems that drive them so you can respond with greater steadiness and agency.
I work with a diverse range of clients and integrate a culturally responsive lens informed by both my professional training and lived experience.
Professional Lens
My background spans clinical counselling, career development, and workplace psychology. This integrative lens allows me to work with both the internal patterns that shape behaviour and the external demands of modern work.
I work primarily with professionals in high-responsibility roles, including finance and accounting, law, healthcare and mental health professions, corporate and technology environments, and leadership or management positions.
Clients often value having one place to address burnout, work stress, difficult workplace situations, and career decisions without having to separate them. My approach is structured, evidence-based, and grounded in the realities of demanding professional environments.
How I Work With Clients
My approach is direct, practical, and grounded in what is actually driving the difficulty. I focus on what is getting in the way, what is maintaining the pressure or uncertainty, and what needs to shift for things to become more manageable.
Sessions work on insight and capability at the same time. Understanding why a pattern exists and developing tools to respond differently are not separate stages — they happen in parallel. Over time, clients typically notice clearer decision-making, more stable responses under pressure, and greater capacity in both their work and personal life.
Background & Credentials
My work in the field began in education, where I supported students through academic transitions, learning differences, and early career decisions. These foundational roles shaped the clinical and career-focused practice I run today.
Alongside my private practice, I teach in the Master of Counselling Psychology program at Adler University, where I focus on Lifestyle and Career Development. This academic role keeps my work grounded in current research and strengthens the integration of mental health, work, and behaviour change that many clients seek.
My approach is informed by evidence-based clinical training, ongoing professional development, and more than a decade of experience supporting people through periods of strain, transition, and reorientation. I maintain active registration as a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC), and I hold specialized certifications in career development, interview strategy, and employment coaching.
I continue to pursue advanced learning in workplace mental health, burnout recovery, behavioural science, and counselling for high-responsibility roles. I regularly update my practice through accredited training to ensure clients receive support that is relevant, effective, and aligned with current best practices.
In addition to individual work, I consult with organizations on workplace mental health, burnout, work stress, and sustainable performance in high-responsibility environments. I am continuing advanced training in organizational coaching.
