You’re tired of putting everybody else’s happiness before yours.
The constant tug-of-war between your personal needs and the expectations of those around you can be overwhelming.
You might be dealing with strained romantic relationships marked by communication issues and uncertainty, or feeling disconnected from friends as life takes you in different directions. In the workplace, you’re frustrated, overworked, and undervalued, like you’re somehow “less than” your colleagues.
If you’re also experiencing the pressure to meet cultural or familial expectations for your life or career, the stress can be especially intense. There’s often a lot of guilt involved: you struggle to assert yourself and own your choices while also honouring the family and heritage that has made you who you are.
You’re here because you’re seeking a way to make sense of these dynamics, navigate the complexity of your unique relationships, and reconnect to the important people in your life in a way that feels authentic to you.
The first step to deeper relationships
is a better understanding of yourself.
My Approach
When it comes to relationships—whether romantic, familial, platonic, or professional—I understand how complicated things can get. Our connections with the people in our lives are nuanced, influenced by the systems, experiences, and beliefs both individuals bring to the dynamic. And when you’re a young adult in the midst of defining who you are and want to be, it can be even more difficult.
As we begin working together, we’ll take the time to explore your experiences and identify the elements contributing to you feeling emotionally drained, stuck, or in conflict with others. We’ll also look at how cultural or identity-based pressures, or even workplace stress, might be affecting your relationships. I recognize you may come from a family or background where making certain changes or decisions in your life is not a viable option. I’ll honour that and help you focus on the parts you do have control over, respecting the balance between the expectations placed upon you and what you really want.
We’ll also define and work toward actionable goals, like learning to communicate more clearly, setting healthy boundaries, or dialing down conflict. I’ll help you become more aware of unproductive patterns that may be holding you back, and we’ll look at past relationships to understand how those experiences may be shaping your current dynamics. My goal is to help you feel empowered to pursue the relationships you want and strengthen the ones that you already have.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if I need relationship counselling?
I recognize how challenging it can be to navigate relationships and when you need to reach out for help. Here are some examples and signs to consider:
Issues persist despite your efforts to resolve them
Relationship problems are affecting your mental and emotional well-being
You’re noticing patterns of conflict or misunderstanding
You feel stuck and unable to move forward
Both parties feel like they could work toward improving the relationship
One or more of these things may be happening in your relationships. When you recognize these signs early on, we can work together to help restore, balance, and heal your relationships in a way that’s effective, timely, and preventative.
Do you work with couples?
Currently, I only help individuals with relationship counselling. When you work on your own thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, you can gain insight into your own relationship dynamics, improve communication skills, and find healthier ways of connecting with the people that are most important to you. I’m also happy to provide a referral to your partner if they are looking to seek counselling for themselves.
What kinds of relationships do you help with?
I offer relationship counselling for all kinds of relationships, from romantic partners to family, friends, and colleagues. Whether you're dating, engaged, married, or navigating family or workplace dynamics, counselling can help resolve challenges and help you feel confident in building deeper relationships with the people in your life.
What if I’m experiencing relationship violence?
If you are experiencing relationship violence, you need to seek help from professionals who specialize in this area to ensure your safety and well-being. Unlike other relationship challenges, relationship violence isn’t something that can be resolved through better communication or strategies within relationship counselling. It includes physical, emotional, sexual, or financial abuse.
