Frequently Asked Questions

How can career counselling help me?

Career counselling offers comprehensive support, addressing both practical and emotional aspects of your professional journey. It assists in exploring career options, identifying strengths, and developing essential skills like cover letter and resume writing, interview preparation, networking, negotiation, and job search techniques. Moreover, it provides a supportive environment to navigate challenges, manage stress and burnout, overcome imposter syndrome, and achieve greater career fulfillment and success. Integration of career assessment aids in identifying interests, values, and preferences so you can make informed career decisions.

What is the difference between career counselling and career coaching? What qualifications do you have?

Unlike career coaches, career counsellors are typically licensed professionals whose services are often covered by most extended healthcare providers.

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC), and a Certified Career Strategist (CCS) with a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology. This qualifies me to work with mental health issues like anxiety and depression that impact both personal and professional life. Counsellors can ethically integrate coaching into their practice when suitable, and unlike coaches, they are trained and qualified to address mental health concerns.

I take a practical approach to career counselling, collaborating with each client to create tailored action plans. I recognize that clients seek tangible improvements alongside the space to process their thoughts and experiences.

What can I expect?

Career counselling sessions are designed to provide a supportive and collaborative environment. We will discuss your career history, current challenges, and future goals to create actionable plans tailored to your needs. Together, we will work on strategies that help you build a fulfilling and successful career.

Who are your typical clients?

My typical clients come from diverse backgrounds and include junior and senior high school students, recent high school graduates, undergraduate and graduate students, as well as individuals researching college, university, or trade school programs. I also work with professionals seeking a mid-career change, individuals who are laid off, or those needing to change their occupation due to injury or medical circumstances.

While my practice primarily focuses on young adults, I also work with adolescents and adults of all ages. My career counselling services cater to a wide range of career stages and life circumstances, providing personalized support to address each client’s unique needs and goals.
